Riddle #2
Which of these is not like the others?
In this riddle, you have to compare each of the figures to come up with the answer. Even though they are each similar and have many of the same qualities, there is one that does not belong. Sometime these riddles aren't as easy as they seem. When I first glanced I thought it was the fourth bug that was different from the others, but when I took a closer look I realized that number three is the clear answer because he only has four legs and the others have six. Had I not taken a second look, I would have gotten the whole riddle wrong.
Many aspects of life need a second look. After viewing the movie Pretty Woman (which I discussed in my Entertainment Discourse) I was able to understand the movie and gain a new perspective that I wasn't able to observe in my first viewing. I have been taught to fit in and do things in my life in a more old fashioned manner. I went through my apartment and took notice of the "entertainment" I have filled it with. Inside my one bedroom home, I found:
(and if I could have taken a picture of my digital camera I would have)
I think that I am a lot like this riddle in that I appear very similar to everyone else, but that fact that I am so old-fashioned and traditional are part of what makes me different from everyone else. You can't see how different I am by just glancing at me, but after people get to know me it becomes apparent that maybe I am the one who is not like the others.
In many ways this Mystory has helped me to take that second glance at my life. I label my life as boring and simple a lot of the time, but these are things that make me, ME. I mean, who else's apartment would everyone go to so that we can all play Mario Cart Races on Nintendo 64? Or who would everyone borrow the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVDs from? Or where else can any of my friends spend all day trying to master Duck Hunt on my original NES? So I'm a little stuck in the past, maybe I'm just that 3rd bug in the riddle who really only needs four legs when everyone else has six.
