 The Smart Kids

In elementary school, I took several tests which determined that I was "gifted and talented" which meant that I had to take classes that none of my friends were in.  I first hated the transition, but soon made friends with many of the "smart" students.  I became close to many of them and learned that they weren't much different than my other friends.  Instead of focusing on the social aspects of life, they just read their books and studied.  Most of them spent their spare time in class doing extra school work.  While I went to eat lunch with my friends, they brought their lunch and stayed in class with our teachers.

I was practically forced to be a part of this community, but I feel like I learned the most from being a part of their society throughout high school.
